This project involved the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, and handover of a custom-built Outdoor Digital LED Sign mounted on a purpose-designed mono-pole steel structure. The completed display provides a powerful Digital Signage solution for communicating with thousands of visitors, contractors, and vehicle operators accessing the port facility.
Custom Digital LED Sign for Port of Auckland
WiPath Communications recently completed another successful Digital LED Sign installation for Port of Auckland, marking the fourth LED display project delivered for one of New Zealand’s busiest transport and logistics facilities.
This large-scale Commercial Digital Signage project was designed to improve communication with visitors, contractors, transport operators, and site personnel entering the Fergusson Terminal Gate House. The new Outdoor LED Display provides a highly visible platform for delivering important operational information, safety notices, traffic management instructions, site announcements, and event communications.
As with all Port of Auckland infrastructure projects, the installation required strict compliance with health and safety requirements, engineering approvals, and verified structural design documentation. The result is a modern, high-performance Digital LED Sign built to withstand demanding coastal conditions while providing reliable 24/7 operation.

LED Panel Configuration
The Digital LED Sign consists of 24 individual LED panels:

The 3.91mm pixel pitch provides exceptional image clarity and allows the display of high-definition content, graphics, text, safety information, and operational messaging.
Purpose-Built Steel Structure
A key component of this project was the fabrication of a custom-engineered steel support structure.
The structure was designed and manufactured at WiPath’s Auckland facility and required approximately 7–10 days of fabrication, assembly, LED installation, and testing before delivery to site.

To ensure long-term performance, the Digital LED Sign was designed using corrosion-resistant materials and outdoor-rated components suitable for New Zealand coastal conditions.

Installation Process
The completed structure and LED display were transported from WiPath’s manufacturing facility to Port of Auckland.

The concrete plinth and electrical infrastructure were supplied by Port of Auckland and its appointed electrical contractor.
Following installation, the system was fully tested and commissioned before being handed over for operational use.
